Overview
Within the NHS there are hundreds of violent attacks on front line staff
every day. To address this issue the government has introduced a "zero
tolerance" policy and committed to train over 1.2 million front line staff
in basic conflict resolution techniques. This e-learning module supports the
mandatory training, which is structured around a 6 hour syllabus created by
the NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management Service (CFSMS), usually
delivered in a workshop format. The module effectively reduces the workshop
training from a full day to a half day, allowing greater throughput of
learners. The module was developed in conjunction with subject experts from
Good Sense.
Having completed the module you will:
- understand some of the common causes of conflict
- appreciate the key role communication plays in conflict and conflict resolution
- be aware of different ‘danger signs’
- know how to deal with possible conflict situations
Structure
The module is structured into a number of learning activities which are
supported by graphics, animations a number of challenges and a quiz.
Target audience
Unfortunately anyone working in the frontline of the NHS could be at risk of
attack. As personal safety is a universally important issue, the information
contained in this module will be useful to all staff and professionals whose
work brings them into contact with members of the public.
Online assessment
Online assessment can be provided through the use of the Virtual College’s
TMS, which offers complete online assessment linked to an individual’s
training record.
Accreditation
This online module is not currently accredited. However the content supports
the national syllabus created by the NHS CFSMS in conjunction with the BMA,
RCN and UNISON.
Cost
£35.25 inc. VAT for a single user. A cost reduction will be offered for multiple
users within a business (POA).
